Autumn Coaching Update

After our summer break we’re ready to get back to Hetton and hear about how your cycling has gone over the 6 week break.  I have outlined some key dates and activities below for your diaries.

Please noteSaturday Club Coaching will begin again on 10th September (NOT 3rd as previously advertised)

Wednesday Night CX Training & Road CCT

The club will be hosting a further Wednesday night Cyclocross specific training session on 7th September.  The previous two weeks have been really successful and given those riders keen on racing this season a good opportunity to get some practice in before the first regional event of the year this Sunday.

We are hoping the Regional Club Clusters of Training (CCT) will start 14th September at Meadowfield Sports Hall – Please keep an eye out on the feed at the bottom of our website or BC North East for updates – www.britishcyclingnortheast.org.uk.  The Road CCT will start again in October, dates and times to be advised.

Saturday Club Coaching

Coaching up until Christmas will focus on our off road techniques starting with core bike handling skills.  The coaches will be working on techniques such as braking, cornering, gear selection and the all important – mount and dismount technique.  Coaching starts 10th September and will run each Saturday until 17th December.  The only the exception is 12th November where we will be preparing one of our famous CX courses for the National CX event on the 13th November.  (it goes without saying we would love to see all our riders enter and support the event so keep an eye our for details over the coming weeks)

IMPORTANT– There will be no Cafe facilities at Hetton Lyons Park for the new few weeks.  We understand the toilets are still available.  So parents, you may want to bring a flask of coffee.

We are always keen to encourage any parents who want o help out in a session.  Please sign on the volunteer sheet at sign on and see one of the coaches before the session starts.

Hetton Hawks 2016/17 Competition

We will continue the format from previous yeas; 6 events, 2 from each discipline (CX, MTB & Road).  Riders need to have competed in 2 disciplines to qualify for the overall championship with your best 3 races making up your total for the year.  The first event for this years Hetton Race series starts with Round 4 of the CXNE event on 25th September.  The second event will be our own Go Ride CX race on one of the Saturdays in October with MTB and Road events to follow next year.

I hope that gives everyone a flavour of what to expect over the next few weeks and as ever if you have any questions or would like to know more please do not hesitate to ask any of the coaches or committee during one of the sessions.
