Tom Simpson Memorial Ride – 16th September

This Saturday we will be holding a social ride for all riders, parents and guardians in support of the Tom Simpson Memorial Fund – http://www.tomsimpsonmemorialfund.co.uk/Haswell/haswell.html

We are to meet at Hetton for 09:30 and be ready to ride for 09:45.  There will be two rides.  Both start at Hetton and finish at Haswell in time for the unveiling of the Memorial Stone (hopefully) by Sir Bradley Wiggins!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We need to arrive at Haswell for 10:45.  There are two rides; 6 mile and 14 mile both on cycle routes which are primarily off-road.  There will be a small section of Road as we get into Haswell and through Seaham on the faster ride. Both rides will end at Haswell.

We would ask that riders under 10 are accompanied by a parent or responsible adult rider.  For parents who are not riding, please note you will be collecting riders from Haswell.

Riders on the longer ride will need to be able to ride a pace of 15mph.  The important part is for us to arrive at the memorial by 10:45, so please choose the most appropriate ride for your pace.

For our younger riders who might not want to ride the full 6 mile route, parents are welcome to park at Haswell and meet the riders on route toward the end of the ride.

We are not able to say how long the unveiling will take.  Therefore please can parents meet at Haswell for 11:30.  Riders with parents are welcome to ride back if they prefer.  Maps for both routes are below.

Note to Riders
  • All riders to be wearing club kit
  • Bring spare tube, puncture repair and pump
  • Bring water & a snack for after your ride
